I arrived in Portugal in 2020 for work, aiming to manage a multinational company’s local operations. At the time, I didn’t speak Portuguese and had never taken any classes. Therefore, all communication with my colleagues had to be in English. I was lucky to find Sandra right at the beginning of my journey in this country and to work with her on learning spoken and written Portuguese. Sandra was able to adapt the content and focus of the lessons according to my priorities, allowing me to make very rapid progress. The results? Within five months, I was able to deliver my first speech in Portuguese in front of my colleagues. Within twelve months, I was interacting naturally with partners and clients in my business area. Cheguei a Portugal em 2020 por causa do meu trabalho com o objetivo de gerir as operações locais de uma empresa multinacional. Na altura não sabia falar português e nunca tinha tido aulas. Por isso as comunicações com os meus colaboradores só podiam ser em inglês. Tive sorte em encontrar a Sandra logo no início do meu caminho neste país e trabalhar com ela na aprendizagem da lingua portuguesa, quer de forma oral, quer de forma escrita. A Sandra conseguiu adaptar o conteúdo e também o foco das aulas face às minhas prioridades, permitindo assim que eu progredisse muito rapidamente. Os resultados? Em cinco mese eu consegui ter o meu primeiro discurso em português em frente dos meus colaboradores. Em doze meses já interagia de forma natural com parceiros e clientes na area do meu negócio. I started Portuguese classes with Sandra through a language school. When the school closed in 2024, I continued private classes with her because I had learned a lot of useful things, and I liked the themes. I have now been her student for three years. The themes are interesting, dynamic, and useful. Sandra uses a variety of resources (books and audio recordings to develop the Portuguese language, which includes speaking, knowledge of the verb rules, and listening comprehension.
Beyond that, there are many opportunities to speak Portuguese in an environment with a patient, animated, and encouraging teacher. Also, each week Sandra gives us a free class called ‘Vamos CHATear,’ where we use the Portuguese in groups with themes in a creative and funny way to improve our knowledge. In November, I spoke Portuguese, and I understood a lot when I went on holiday to Mozambique. Thanks to Sandra!
Comecei as aulas de português com a Sandra através de uma escola de línguas. Quando a escola fechou em 2024, continuei as aulas privadas com ela porque eu tinha aprendido muitas coisas úteis e gostei dos temas. Agora, sou aluna dela há três anos. Os temas são interessantes, dinâmicos e úteis. A Sandra utiliza uma variedade de recursos (livros e áudios) para desenvolver a língua portuguesa que inclui a fala, o conhecimento das regras verbais e a compreensão oral.
Além disso, há muitas oportunidades para falar em português num ambiente com uma professora paciente, animada e encorajadora. Além disso, todos os meses a Sandra dá-nos uma aula gratuita chamada ‘Vamos CHATear’, onde utilizamos a língua portuguesa em grupos com temas de uma maneira criativa e divertida para melhorar o nosso conhecimento.
Em novembro, falei e percebi muito português quando fui de férias a Moçambique. Graças à Sandra, o tempo comunicativo lá não foi um desafio!
I started Portuguese lessons with Sandra one and a half years ago, once a week. I enjoy learning with her as her lessons are pleasant and efficient with the right balance of conversation and grammar. Sandra loves Portuguese culture, and there is always a lot to learn about it in her courses. She is lively and has good energy, she is clear in her explanations and she always encourages and motivates her students. She is a curious and open person with whom it´s easy to chat about a large range of topics. I think she has a good understanding of the problems students can face when learning Portuguese. After a year and a half, I´ve reached a satisfactory level in Portuguese, thanks to Sandra. I highly recommend her for learning Portuguese.
Eu comecei a fazer cursos de português há um ano e meio, uma vez por semana. Eu gosto de aprender com a Sandra porque as lições dela são agradáveis e eficazes, com um bom equilíbrio entre conversa e gramática. A Sandra adora a cultura portuguesa e aprende-se muito sobre isso nos cursos dela. Ela é viva e tem uma boa energia, é clara nas explicações, encoraja e motiva sempre os alunos. É uma pessoa curiosa e aberta com quem é fácil conversar sobre vários assuntos. Acho que percebe bem as dificuldades que os alunos podem encontrar quando aprendem português. Depois de um ano e meio, atingi um nível adequado em português, graças à Sandra. Recomendo-a vivamente para aprender português.
